It is most important for our children's happiness to help them feel resilient in the face of adversity. If they develop this skill they will better face setbacks in their life. They will have the self-confidence to set and accomplish goals. How can they learn to be resilient? The answer is within themselves. Children have to reframe how they view mistakes in their lives. They need to see setbacks as temporary and not a permanent situation. They can't turn the mistake against themselves and become negative. They should try only to have positive thoughts . If they have a negative thought they need to turn it around into a positive one. For negative thought are self-destructing. Also, if they have more self-confidence then they will tend to be more positive thinkers. A good way to increase one's self-esteem is to focus on the strengths one has. Everyone has a hidden talent that needs to be brought out and nurtured. It is important to take time everyday to develop the strengths one possesses. If a child has a talent for doing art give them lessons. This will give them a feeling of success and they will be more apt to try new things because of their added confidence. We all possess the ability to chose the positive path if we want. It is up to us to go down that path.

Come the fall, when school begins we will be refreshed and more positve. This will be one of the greatest gifts we as parents can give our children. Too many parents ,use the summer to pursue more academic classes instead of pursuing a special interest. Teach your children always to try to look on the bright side of things. Optimism has been show to improve health, make you happier and will help you to better achieve your goals. Go out and make it a positive summer. You and your children will reap the benefits.

The summer is soon approaching and children and teens should have more time on their hands. It can be a time of fun or aggravation for all parties. A great way to start the summer is to make a list of your children's strengths and make them even stronger. Most of the time the strengths are things your children are passionate about and enjoy doing.
