How Can Parents Help Their Kids With Stress? posted by UNKNOWN

We read again and again about the increase in teen suicide and shootings in schools. What causes this? An increase in stress among our kids? Lower self-esteem?? What is the solution and what can a parent do to help? Schools are not offering a solution. I feel the answer rests with the parents. There are steps to follow to help children regain some composure in this world. First off, parents need to encourage children to slow down their hectic pace by taking a few minutes each day to take a look at nature outside or just to plain play outside. While doing this take a few minutes to take deep breaths. Taking slow ,deep breaths cause relaxation to occur. They should take these few minutes away from watching T.V. or doing the computer. Also, parents should look at the after school activities their children have. Are they doing an activity everyday after school? This running from one activity to another leaves little time for homework and for just relaxing. Set up a priority list and let something go that is way down on the list. This will free up your child to just have down time which will create more relaxation for both children and parents. Their anxiety levels will diminish and I feel this will make them happier and hopefully help their peace level. They also might have the time to pursue a hobby they love which will help their self-esteem. Try it and see. You will see a difference. What do you have to lose?

Best Cure For Bullies posted by UNKNOWN

The school year is under way for a couple of weeks, and I am sure bullies are out in abundance. Where there is a scared kid with little confidence there will be a bully, ready to destroy that person. As a parent, you ask what can be done? Does one phsically fight back or use wise words to attack? What is the solution to this problem which has always excisted from the beginning of time? I was personally attacked by bullies when I was a kid in the 60's and so have my three children more recently. I have found from personal experience that the best strategy to fight off bullies is to show a tremendous amount of inner calm and self-confidence. You will emanate a glow of strength and this will discourage them from going further. Use positive self-talk and develop a talent to help increase your inner confidence. I truly believe this will work. Try it and let me know.

Now, that school has started , I am sure parents and kids are feeling the stress to get the great grades and work hard. This is important but let us not lose sight of the importance of being well-rounded and having social skills. How to deal with others is a learned skill that can be developed and should be learned. It has been shown that a person that can get along with others will succeed more then an individual that just does well in school. In the long term , you will be happier as well knowing how to get along with other people.
