It is so important to stay in shape and watch what you eat for the health of your heart. Too many people , including children are overweight. It is a serious and growing worldwide problem. Also, stress in school and life has increased, too. More teens are depressed then before and have type 2 diabetes. What to do?

It is so important to have goals in life. Students should be encouraged to have goals and to do the very best they can. They should be persuaded to persevere through tough times. They need to know everyone faces obstacles when they pursue a goal. Parents and teachers need to emphasize the process and less the outcome. If students are only praised for a successful outcome, and not for their effort towards the process, what happens if they don't accomplish the goal? Do they consider themselves as a failure? Reward the effort and tell them that life doesn't go in a straight line . They should keep trying and learn from the bumps in the road.

A main ingredient to achieving goals is to be resilient in the face of difficulty. To be resilient means when mistakes occur, you don't fall apart, but learn from them and go on. Mistakes can teach us alot if we are open to learning from them. If we get too upset when they occur, we will not gain from them. Mistakes can teach us something. When a mistake happens, ask yourself what you could do better next time, so it doesn't happen again. Is it being more careful, studying longer or seeking extra help from a teacher. Figure it out and just do it next time.
